Kill All Normies. The Halifax mass shooting plot was an event that chiefly occurred between February 12,to February 14, Police were alerted to three people, identified as Lindsay Souvannarath, Randall Shepherd, and James Gamble, who were reportedly conspiring to commit a mass killing at the Halifax Shopping Centre.

Souvannarath and Shepherd were arrested and convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, while Gamble was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Two of the suspects, Randall Steven Shepherd, 20, of Timberleaand Lindsay Kanittha Souvannarath, 23, from Geneva, Illinoishad access to firearms and presented a threat. In the early morning of February 13, police staked out Gamble's duplex house in Timberlea, a small suburb outside of Halifax. After both of Gamble's parents had left the house and been questioned by police, police entered the house and found the third plot suspect, year-old James Gamble, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Shepherd was meeting Souvannarath, Gamble's online girlfriend, as she arrived from the United States. The police learned that it was the trio's intention to go into a public venue and open fire, attempting to kill as many people as possible, before turning the guns on themselves on February 14 Valentine's Day. Shepherd and Souvannarath faced charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to use weapons for a dangerous purpose, and unlawfully conveying threats through social media.

Souvannarath, Shepherd, and Gamble all met on the website Tumblrwhere they shared an obsession with death, true crime, heavy metal music, and Nazi imagery. Gamble's blog included imagery of Nazis and the Columbine High School massacre[8] along with pictures of guns from World War II, and Shepherd's contained death metal audio tracks and gore, whereas on Souvannarath's blog, headlined with, "School Shooter Chic; violence is the aesthetic," she made many allusions to events of mass murder and mayhem in the month of February and as early as several months beforehand, interspersed with anti-Semitic comments in juxtaposition with posts of photo sets of Japanese fashion on her pastel-pink background.

On February 5,Gamble reblogged a photo Souvannarath posted on Tumblr saying "Valentine's Day, it's going down", hinting to the would-be shooting. As of February 19,Shepherd and Souvannarath faced charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson, illegal possession of weapons for dangerous purposes against the public, and making threats over social media.

Preliminary court proceedings continued on April On November 22,Shepherd plead guilty at Nova Scotia Supreme Court on the charge of conspiracy to commit murderand was sentenced to 10 years in prison, less days for time served. While serving a life sentence for her role in the Halifax Mass Shooting Plot, Souvannarath broke the silence she has maintained since her arrest by appearing on The Night Time Podcasta Halifax-based podcast focusing on Canadian crime, mysteries, and offbeat stories [19] [20] [21].

In the seven part podcast series Souvannarath spoke candidly about her life, her neo nazi radicalization [22]her relationship with James Gamble, the planning of the shooting plot [23]and the events surrounding her arrest at the Halifax airport. Archived from the original on June 12, I have added Citation needed tag to the sentence regarding Pepe being a "symbol of the Alt-Right ". I did this for 2 reasons:. Unless a definitive leader for the Alt-Right can be readily be sourced, who has actively endorsed the image of Pepe as a "symbol" of their movement and preferably explain what exactly that meansI see no reason to remove this tag.

If you feel the need to do so, please disucss it here prior to removal. Sawta talk23 February UTC. I understand this meme has existed long before several major news outlets decided to conflate it with white supremacy. The fact that this has been allowed to filter into an 'encyclopaedia' article is concerning. The meme's appropriation by white supremacists or any other hate group should definitely be referenced. But the fact that this article opens with "Pepe the Frog is a popular Internet meme and symbol of white supremacy" represents a level of attention to fact as acute as a tabloid gossip magazine.

You should at least read the first sentence of the article before you start talking about it, as it does not say what you think it does. All the points you've made are either false or completely irrelevant to the article as it's actually written. Thinking about adding this to the project but not sure where it fits and this article looks like a suitable place. Would it be wrong? As multiple sources have reported, Spencer was answering a question his Pepe pin on his jacket when the famous punch happened [1] [2].

Kind of surprised to see no mention of it here, did I misss it or is there some reason it's not there? Seems notable as it immediately spawned nearly as many memes as Pepe himself. Beeblebrox talk6 March UTC.

Someone should review how this page is worded so certain points won't be put in a biased negative light and so not to add unnecessary details that could show a bias.

Hi Insertcleverphrasehere. Before reverting every single one of my edits wholesale, why not try discussing it on talk? Or, err, leaving a reason in your edit summary? It's a bit rude, to say the least. Especially that you marked such a revert as 'minor', which it blatantly is not. There's a more indepth list of when to use it herewhich you should read. Specifically, " Use of standard rollback for any other purposes — such as reverting good-faith changes which you happen to disagree with — is likely to be considered misuse of the tool.

I think of the the factors that has lent such great resonance and acceptance of the Frog as a leader of the Alt-Right is due to a story that I heard during the 's, circulated primarily by christian conservatives concerned about the diminishing morality of the American people and the gradual erosion of what they considered to be "their" rights.

The story went that a frog placed in boiling water would immediately jump out, and escape, but what "they" were doing the bad, immoral people was slowly increasing the temperature of the water that the frog was in, so that it did not notice when the water eventually boiled, and the frog died. This was part of my white, "oral history" as child and now 40 years later the frog is sometimes portrayed as either a God, or as a healthy, virile and masculine male, fully capable of defending himself against "them".

I submit this on the chance that others also have this sense of shared "white" history, and if there is perhaps some documentation, i. It's 40 years later, and the frog has escaped the boiling water, and is now threatening to put the Jews back into the "oven".

I cannot help but think that a lot of these "kitchen" metaphors have some kind of common denominator. Zaostao : ZN3ukct : I am not quite sure why my edit was reverted. This is a BRD discussion. The series' 13 episodes were originally broadcast on TV Tokyo from July 6 to September 28,and explore themes such as realityidentity and communication [3] through philosophycomputer historycyberpunk literature and conspiracy theory. The series focuses on Lain Iwakura, an adolescent middle school girl living in suburban Japan, and her introduction to the Wired, a global communications network which is similar to the Internet.

Lain lives with her middle-class family, which consists of her inexpressive older sister Mika, her emotionally distant mother, and her computer-obsessed father; while Lain herself is somewhat awkward, introverted, and socially isolated from most of her school peers. However, the status-quo of her life becomes upturned by a series of bizarre incidents that start to take place after she learns that girls from her school have received an e-mail from a dead student, Chisa Yomoda, and she pulls out her old computer in order to check for the same message.

Lain finds Chisa telling her that she is not dead, but has merely "abandoned her physical body and flesh" and is alive deep within the virtual reality-world of the Wired itself, where she has found the almighty and divine " God ". From this point, Lain is caught up in a series of cryptic and surreal events that see her delving deeper into the mystery of the network in a narrative that explores themes of consciousness, perception, and the nature of reality.

The "Wired" is a virtual reality-world that contains and supports the very sum of all human communication and networkscreated with the telegraphtelevisionsand telephone services, and expanded with the Internetcyberspaceand subsequent networks.

The series assumes that the Wired could be linked to a system that enables unconscious communication between people and machines without physical interface.

Halifax mass shooting plot

The storyline introduces such a system with the Schumann resonancesa property of the Earth's magnetic field that theoretically allows for unhindered long distance communications. If such a link were created, the network would become equivalent to Reality as the general consensus of all perceptions and knowledge.

Masami Eiri is introduced as the project director on Protocol Seven the next-generation Internet protocol in the series' time-frame for major computer company Tachibana General Laboratories. He had secretly included code of his very own creation to give himself absolute control of the Wired through the wireless system described above. He then "uploaded" his own brainconscienceconsciousnessmemory, feelings, emotions — his very self — into the Wired and "died" a few days after, leaving only his physical, living body behind.

These details are unveiled around the middle of the series, but this is the point where the story of Serial Experiments Lain begins. Masami later explains that Lain is the artifact by which the wall between the virtual and material worlds is to fall, and that he needs her to get to the Wired and "abandon the flesh", as he did, to achieve his plan.

The series sees him trying to convince her through interventions, using the promise of unconditional loveromantic seduction and charm, and even, when all else fails, threats and force. In the meantime, the anime follows a complex game of hide-and-seek between the " Knights of the Eastern Calculus ", hackers whom Masami claims are "believers that enable him to be a God in the Wired", and Tachibana General Laboratories, who try to regain control of Protocol Seven.

In the end, the viewer sees Lain realizing, after much introspectionthat she has absolute control over everyone's mind and over reality itself. Her dialogue with different versions of herself shows how she feels shunned from the material world, and how she is afraid to live in the Wired, where she has the possibilities and responsibilities of an almighty goddess. The last scenes feature her erasing everything connected to herself from everyone's memories. She is last seen, unchanged, encountering her oldest and closest friend Alice once again, who is now married.

Lain promises herself that she and Alice will surely meet again anytime as Lain can literally go and be anywhere she desires between both worlds.

Serial Experiments Lain was conceived, as a series, to be original to the point of it being considered "an enormous risk" by its producer Yasuyuki Ueda. Producer Ueda had to answer repeated queries about a statement made in an Animerica interview. This would lead to a "war of ideas" over the meaning of the anime, hopefully culminating in new communication between the two cultures. When he discovered that the American audience held the same views on the series as the Japanese, he was disappointed.

The Lain franchise was originally conceived to connect across forms of media anime, video games, manga.
